Tornado watch 87

Because one tornado watch isn't enough.

Quite a few nasty looking storms, and all of them passed within a few miles of here, but we got nothing.  A few far off flashes of lightning and a handful of distant rumbles of thunder, but barely even a sprinkle of rain here.

The winds are out of the south, but I don't see anything on the radar in that direction, so it looks like we're safe.  Some heavy stuff to the north of us; there's even a possible vortex signature just beyond the county line north of downtown Omaha.

Glad to hear that you've been safe from the storms! Here's hoping you continue to do so!

I've always found tornados to be fascinating; Beautiful in their own way, and also terrifying and potentially deadly. The worst I've ever personally witnessed have been small (100' tall or less) dust-devils, but I've always been a fan of the various storm-chaser shows on Discovery Channel and the like.

Personally, I'll be just as happy if TV is the only place I actually see the big ones!

This location seems to be blessed or something, because the worst of the storms always seem to skirt around us.

When I was in grade school, on a warm day we'd always have (very small) dust devils in the black asphalt parking lot. I used to run through them or try to stand in the center and let it swirl around me. These were, of course, very small and quite weak; the most they'd ever do is muss your hair
