Tornado Warning

I don't think we're in immediate danger, but the storm "capable of producing a tornado" is very nearby.

Posted via LiveJournal.app.

EDIT:  OK, there's  a storm spotter report of a tornado on the ground, about 4 or 5 miles away.

We got some CRAZY heavy rain, hard enough to reduce visibility to below 100 yards. There was a small amount of pea-sized hail, but only for a minute or two. Surprisingly little lightning when the storm was overhead, but you could see the flashes all night long as the storms were south of us.

A tornado was spotted about 7 or 8 miles away, no reports of any damage. It apparently touched down in a field, though there are houses and a small town nearby. There were also reports of wind gusts over 70 MPH and there were a lot of downed trees in Omaha. The wind didn't seem all that strong here and it was getting dark by the time the storm passed, so we haven't done a thorough damage check yet, but at least the house, barn and the front side of the lawn appears to be intact.

It looks like the storm, which spent most of the night to the south of us, appears to have reversed direction and is heading back towards us, but it doesn't look there will be any severe weather this time, though there is an awful lot of lightning.
